Anarchist literary quarterly, hand set and printed on letter press in the artists' colony of Woodstock, New York, 1938-1940. This is a hardcover, 2-volume facsimile edition produced in 1970. Limited edition. The Phoenix was a revolutionary magazine, edited by James Cooney and the first to publish D.H. Lawrence in America. Other contributors include Freida Lawrence, Anaïs Nin, Henry Miller, Jean Giono, Derek Savage, Kay Boyle. Unused and in very good condition, except for slight foxxing. The binding is sturdy and intact, and the pages are free of any markings or damage.
